The second volume of the Selected Works of Tura Mirzayev, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, includes a collection of articles devoted to the lives and scholarly contributions of several distinguished Uzbek folklorists who have passed away. The volume also contains articles dedicated to the author's colleagues and followers, as well as studies of a number of linguists and literary scholars whose academic work is, to varying degrees, related to folklore studies. Each contribution is written in the form of a biographical and scholarly portrait. Taken together, these articles provide a comprehensive picture of the formation of Uzbek folklore studies as an independent academic discipline and its development in the twenty-first century. They also serve as an important source for understanding the history of Uzbek folklore studies.
