A STUDY OF PRECEDENT NAMES
This monograph examines the sociolinguistic, linguocultural, and psycholinguistic (associative) characteristics of precedent names in the Uzbek language. For the first time in Uzbek linguistics, it elucidates the similarities and differences between precedent names and related onomastic phenomena such as stereotypes, prototypes (standards), and symbols. Furthermore, based on linguistic evidence, the study demonstrates that precedent names reflect the distinctive features of the mentality of Uzbek language speakers. The monograph is intended for researchers working in the fields of sociolinguistics, linguocultural studies, and associative linguistics, as well as for students specializing in philology.
