PROVERBS AND PAREMIOLOGICAL RESEARCH
Proverbs occupy a special place in understanding the history, destiny, worldview, and spiritual heritage of a people. The origin of proverbs is closely connected with the history of humankind. As the finest expressions of popular wisdom, proverbs are also referred to as the words of the ancestors, the legacy of the wise, the counsel of the elders, and the voice of the people. This monograph comprehensively examines the history of Uzbek paremiology, the collection and study of proverbs, the factors influencing their formation, and the role of proverbs within both oral and written literary genres. Furthermore, based on proverbs used in classical literary works, the evolution, historical development, and transformation of proverbs are explored for the first time through the comparative-historical method. The book is intended for folklorists, literary scholars, students of philology at higher educational institutions, teachers of the native language and literature, and, in general, for all readers interested in literature.
